Faith
πίστις (pístis)
Trust and confidence in God and in His promises. More than intellectual assent — a confident commitment of the whole person to God.
Historical Background
In biblical thought, faith is firmly grounded in the covenant faithfulness of God. In the Hebrew Scriptures, the faithful ('aman) respond to God's redemptive acts. In the New Testament, pistis is central to the gospel and the life of the believer.
